Your Questions Answered

What does SingAlongWithAlice offer?

SingAlongWithAlice offers care home residents, whether elderly, with dementia or disabled, a unique musical singalong show. The emphasis is squarely on achieving the maximum amount of engagement, movement and vocal participation.

Alice draws on her West End Show experience as well as her comedy experience with musical accompaniment on Professional Yamaha keyboard by her musician husband Marek.

The songs are carefully chosen for relevance to the age group and cultural background of Care Home Residents, and a unique blend of familiar known versions of classic songs coupled with melody lines articulated on keyboard to make them easy to sing along to with Alice.

What styles of music are performed?

Our "Variety Mix" set recognises the diversity of musical tastes amongst Care Home Residents whilst focussing mainly on categories that will appeal to the greatest majority: Cockney "Pub" Singalong, 1950's Rock'n'Roll favourites and Timeless Musical Theatre/Yesteryear Cinema Classics.

To engage most with People with Dementia, the songs are the best known within their genre to encourage singing along! If there is a particular favourite please let us know at least a week in advance and we will include it in our repertoire if possible.

What makes SIngAlongWithAlice particularly suitable for your care home?

Alice goes far beyond simply performing an act, by actively engaging with residents (subject to current covid restrictions) to make them feel part of the show. Staff at care homes often tell Alice that the residents are positively stimulated and usually sleep through the night afterwards.

Sadly, many residents do not have regular visits from family or friends. However, Alice's warm personality and genuine rapport makes residents feel like a close family member has popped in to see them. And family members of residents who do witness SingAlongWithAlice are delighted with the obvious enjoyment by their loved ones.

Good natured, tasteful simple humour e.g. slapstick is an integral part of the act, drawing on both Alice & Marek's professional stand-up comedy experience. Making people with dementia laugh is a rare skill that Alice has.

We are fully mindful of covid safety and are able to perform outside as well as inside, preferably using your power cable and 13A mains supply, however we can use our own self-powered equipment on special request.

A double act adds a new dimension to a show by demonstrating interaction between themselves which provides a richer experience for the residents. Additionally, Alice can focus 100% on the residents while Marek takes care of the music. And at the same price point as a solo act, while still fitting into a compact space, this double act represents great value.

Is SingAlongWithAlice suitable for people with dementia?

Alice especially enjoys entertaining people with dementia, whether mild or severe. Having entertained many people with dementia in Care Homes, Alice has a unique understanding of how to reach people. Her engaging and personable style along with carefully selected music really does stimulate care home residents with dementia, often to the surprise and delight of their own families. Naturally care staff need to be present to manage inappropriate behaviour which can of course sometimes occur with people who have dementia.
